Taking things apart to see how they work.
The English 12 Provincial Exam is thematic in the way that each of its sections build on the previous one. Then, at the end, there is a prompt that is related to the previous pieces from the exam. Students are expected to write an essay or narrative that speaks to the theme of the exam.
What we are going to attempt to do is have students, with this assignment, is take that process and kind of reverse engineer it.
It starts with the prompt and the student acts as a curator by finding works that relate to the prompt from his or her life. For example, if the student selects "It is difficult not to be jealous of others" he may select The Smiths Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now as a piece for this project.
The student is expected to find and explain how works from different mediums related to the chosen theme.
